my tank has undetectable nitrates and phosphates and has cyano. i bumped my nitrates up to about .10 ppm some of my corals have shrunk up and my bta does not look good. it has shrunk to 1/8 of its size and kinda deflated.should i leave it at .10 ppm or bring it down.

I think most here would say - need more information

1. Gallons in tank
2. Test used to measure nitrate
3. Other parameters (the problems you're seeing might have nothing do with nitrate rise) - did you do anything else?

15 gallons i used the salifert nitrate rest kit my calcium alk mag is all normal undetectable phosphates and upping the feeding is the only change i made.

this is weird now everything looks normal

Sometimes the best solution is giving something time to adapt. Too many of us are to many variables thru overreaction... Myself included sometimes :) for the record, I would've been very surprised if the issue was the nitrates !!

Glad to hear this!

I find that sometimes, my Nems can be in a "bad mood". For the last two days, my Nems aren't quite as inflated as inflated as they usually are. While this puts me on alert, I won't rush to make changes.

Today is water change day, so, I will see how they respond. IF it continues, I will investigate further.

Glad to see you monitor your tank so closely. Sometimes people don't notice such things until its too late.

Have you positively ID’d it as cyano? I know many people who end up treating something like cyano, dinos, diatoms or GHA only to find out they were helping whatever it is they’re fighting to grow.

i’m not 100% that it’s cyano but it’s like a red smile covering my sand and rocks and here and there there are some bubbles in it.

so this is the stuff i’m dealing with. is it cyano? if not how do i deal with it

the pictures are not the best -but if its what you're seeing in the second pic - that totally covers the rock - then recedes when the lights are off - it looks like cyqnobqcteriq
