Cyano and green hair algae

Tank is about 5-6 months old and I’m getting my first outbreak. I have been feeding the fish everyday but what I feel is minimal. Should I reduce to once every two days? I have three fish currently. What do I need to do to get rid of this before it gets too bad?

increase flow in the area and cut lights off for few days. syphon most of it out.

You prob just need some more flow in that area. I see you have 1 powerhead, I needed 2 in my 29 biocube. If you are just gonna use 1 put it on the right side of the tank and direct the return pump to the left side. You gotta play with the placement but you’ll find a sweet spot.

Look at flow, also, in those bio cubes , co2 and airation is kinda difficult.

I’m thing I experienced in the jbj cube was the back chammbers got pretty funky after a while. Basically shooting dissolved organics right back into the tank.
I started doing all my water changes from the back.

Also if the tank is new ,don’t be afraid of stirring up the sand before water changes. it gets the dissolved organics out. Beak up the mats.

Okay I am going to add flow for sure. Where would you place it? I was thinking on the back wall, angled towards that side of the tank. Thoughts? My nitrates were about 5ppm yesterday.

Just invest in a really good powerhead.
