Cyano-bacteria Removal // ID // 411

Hi,
I think we have Cyano. See pics. Tank parameters listed below. Had some hot days 2 weeks ago and now we have this red algae. Is it Cyano? And should I scrub and siphon? Add a treatment// removal ?
This red algae rubs off and is not crusty.
Phosphate was high. Back to normal parameters after 5 g H2O change. Thanks.

Looks like cyano to me… funny story is my tank got it when it started to heat up… I’ve been siphoning it out manually for a couple months.. I just added some fans on my sump and brought my tank back down to 77 and it’s gone and never came back! I’ve always heard it’s seasonal and now I believe it! Just stay away from chemiclean or other chemicals and keep manually removing it.. wouldn’t hurt to cool your tank either!

Thanks. Cooling is tough. Added a window unit to the room. No central. I used ice bottles for spikes.
Seems I'd have to scrape and siphon. Are little cyanos gonna get everywhere in the tank?
I will do this before treatment.

Curious, how come you suggest no chemiclean, etc?

A fan blowing on the tank or sump will work fine.. I bought a cheap one on Amazon and my tank went from 83 to 77 for a high… evaporative cooling at its best! And yes just use a siphon to suck out the cyano during a water change. If you have a sump you grab a fine filter sock and just recycle the water. Siphon from display into sock in the sump or bucket and reuse the water after the sock collects all the cyano.
