ive had Cyano taking over my sandbed for a little while now. Have tried reducing light cycle, feeding a little less (every other day), manual removal with water changes etc. It comes back within a day.
So after some research I’ve purchased some chemiclean. I’ve read a lot of good results and some not so good but not to sure what else to do so just going to go ahead and try it.

Does anyone have any advice using chemiclean?

My advice , just follow the instuctions , and you should be fine .. ive just used iT last week gor the first time , Will probably do another one , but iT certanly works !

Only thing I'm a bit confused about is total water volume. It's a 400l tank but not sure if that includes sump as well. Also no idea how much the rock and sand effects how much is in there now.
Should I just underdose what I think is in there?

I would dose for what water volume you think you have in the tank. It has worked really well for me in the past. Only needed two doses to eliminate the cyano in my 50 Cube. Just follow instructions. Take your skimmer offline or let it overflow back in the sump and have water change ready.

Yeah I'm going to let skimmer overflow as i don't have an air stone thing. Did you do a water change the day before you strated it, sucking out as much cyano first?
Also did you keep lights off for 48 hours during treatment

I did a small Water Change before i added and removed as Much as i could , i kept my lights on as usual but reduced my whites too max 5.5 hrs .. do you have a UV lamp running on Your system ... this is definitely a good investment if you don’t have one , I will treat my tank again with chemiclean in a few days .
Good luck
Mack

I did a 10% water change this morning trying to get as much of the cyano out. My sand vac is useless though, didn't have the power to suck up most of the bigger bits.
No UV lamp on my tank either. What are the benefits?

Did you clear your tank of cyano for it to come back again?

It will come back in a couple of hrs , a UV lamp can have two Benifits , one too control algae ,and two too control parasites and such , i would research it first and see if that’s something you’d want too do ..

Little update on the cyano. Been just over 24 hours and I dont think there has been much change yet. It's still swaying around on the sand. Hopefully in another 24 hours I will see a difference.
Will the cyano literally dissappear or do I have to remove it on the water change after treatment?

You will see a big difference .. but there’s a good chance you will need too dose a couple more times , again try and remove as much as possible during wc .. blow your rocks off as well

still around this morning

I believe chemiclean say too do a wc after 48 hrs .. then I wait a day before dosing again

Just done my water change. Let the skimmer get a bucket of water out of it until it dropped lower than overflow, then carried on with the rest normally.
Blew the rocks and sand first as well so currently can't see any cyano.

Bag of carbon is in as well now. Skimmer isn't going mad like I expected but got the line into a bucket just incase
