I’m new to reefing. No corals yet, two saddleback clowns and a Midas blenny. I noticed this burgundy-brownish stuff on my main rockwork and I can’t tell what it is. Is it cyano or diatom? Or maybe even corraline? Sorry if the picture makes it hard to see. Thanks!

would it be better if I turned of my light to take the pic?

Pictures are usually best taken when your white lights are on..... often when pics are taken only under blue lighting, colors and details can be hard to discern.

Pics under white lighting is best.

thanks, this is my channel one lighting only, is that better?

Yes, much better for ID'ing.
does it blow off the rocks, or is it attached?

Regardless, probably nothing to worry about. Your rocks are going to turn green before the coralline algae shows up. Just blow off what you can, and keep it syphoned up as best your can. your tank will go through months of the uglies now. enjoy!
