So I’ve noticed what under blue lighting was a red algae of some sort. It was more built up in areas where I know I have some flow issues that I will be fixing. With that being said, when I turn on the white lights it is obviously a brownish / greenish. It has now moved onto my rocks, sand and walls of the tank. I cleaned as much as I could and just did a water change when I took these photos… should I dose chemiclean ? Is it truly Cyano? I have extremely low phosphate and nitrate values which I know could be aiding this. Any help is appreciated !

It looks like a normal case of the uglies, but...
How old is your tank?
what are your parameters?
what kind of cuc do you have?
What other livestock do you have?
Have you tried manual removal and if so, how quickly did it return?
What lights are you using?

I would not recommend adding chemicals to the tank before trying to correct things naturally. It's likely just what every tank who started with dead rock goes through and you just need to wait it out.

Tank has been up a running for about 4 months… the majority of the rock came from another tank I add. My RODI is showing 0 TDS, 1.024 salinity and all other parameters are in range. My phosphate and nitrates are extremely low however. Clean up crew is about 4-6 snails and a hermit. I have a mix of softies and lps with a few SPS. I did vacuum it from my sand and it came back very fast… I have two Red Sea LED 90s for lights… there are some dead flow spots where a lot of this is found which I know I need to correct with another power head.

I would suggest correcting the flow first and then see what happens.
It does not look like cyano to me, based on the photos.
My approach to everything related to my tank is to try conservative, non-chemical options when at all possible.

Same problem. Looked at brs video again. just suggest clean up crew, and if want go extreme chemicals. vibrant being one , which is being trashed on another link. I have some, and will never use it. i do not like dosing. I am now thinking of just removing the sand, and replacing it, as many times as I have to. I cannot siphon it as sand is too light. just the ugly stage. goggle for brs video, should deal with your concern. I am thinking about a bristle tooth tang, but have an expensive yellow, and am very leery

mine. lights on for a month fully cycled no problem for 2 months with lights off
