Cyano killed by cupramine!!?!

So just wanted to throw this out there. In my 180g tank I had an outbreak of Ich while I was away. Too many fish to quarantine so I dosed the display. Had also been fighting cyano for a few months but it was definitely improving. I dosed cupramine for the Ich and to my surprise the cyano was gone in a day. Anyone else ever experienced this? Can't be a coincidence, happened to quickly.

Copper power definitely doeesn't. I don't know about cupramine though

No copper power doesn't. But I'm not sure of the type of copper or maybe another ingredient in cupramine but still no cyano and the cupramine has been stripped out. Either way I'm thrilled

Copper is highly toxic to most plants and photosynthetic organisms in general because it interferes with photosynthesis from my knowledge so I'm not surprised tbh (Cu2+)

However, after cyano dies there's a likelihood that it will release toxins... concentration of the toxins depends on many factors including tank size, amount of cyano killed, and others...

True. So it's a 180g and there wasn't much cyano left. My phosphate is .05. nitrate 10 ppm. Running normal chemipure again and purigen for good measure. But definitely a good thought. I was worried about the same thing.

There are probably better ways to control it though in the future if it's just a minor problem than adding a toxic substance like copper
