I believe I have been cyano bacteria growing behind my mushroom. I also believe it's making my mushroom move. It's slowly been working its way into the sand and now a foot is loose. What do I do? How do I clean the rock without hurting my mushroom. I love where he is and don't want him to move or have to put him in a basket of rebel to get him to attach to a new rock. The mushroom still seems happy but I feel I need to take some action. See the picture for details

Ah yes my friend. It is cyao season. I have some popping up in my tank in the sand aswell. But I use chemiclean, some live rock enhance is always good too. If at all possible to move coral from infected area. Siphon out with airline tube. Dose some chemiclean. Red cyano rx. And that tiny bit shold dissappear again. Remember it's always there. Even if you cannot see it. But if it pestering corals move them and clean out. You do not want to battle cyano the hard way. Can you post your tanks perms?

Idk how to move my mushroom without hurting it. It doesn't seem to be growing at a fast rate. I hate putting chemicals into my tank because I have so much to lose if anything goes wrong. Our nitrates are a bit high we are working on lowering them. We have chemi blue in there now to help with phosphates and nitrates. Our nitrates are at 10ppm, salinity 1.026, ph 8.2, alk 10.9, calcium 470, magnesium 1290, phosphate 1.5

We do also dose vibrant. Is that similar to chemi clean?

Vibrant causes cyano.

how many gallons is this tank

This oversimplification is not really fair to the product ;) Some people have side effects associated with vibrant, others don't. I think it's important to detail possible side effects of various tecniques, but they're just that, "possible" :)

Hi you you have a soft tooth brush and turkey baster? To clear of the cyano around the mushroom, you could carefully scrub the cyano and then use the turkey baster to blast the rock off. :)

Totally agree. They say it can cause cyano and if it does to keep dosing it will clear up. Clean up crew definitely eats it. Had a good chunk of my rock cleaned up through the night. But they don't seem to go near my mushroom. Going to have to take the rock out today and tooth brush it in a separate container and hope for the best. Can't put it in a high flow area due to my mushroom not liking high flow.

I use chemi clean and vibrant in my tank when needed and I have acros. Some of the most picky coral you can get in this Hobbie. Your mushroom will be fine. Will probably be ticked off for about 2-3 days but will be okay.

Beautiful. We have some acros as well and they seem to be thriving. Visual growth everyday.
Do you think my mushroom will move? I cleaned off the rock and his foot is still not in place it flops over every now and then lol but seems to be happy.

Mushrooms are amazing coral. Some can puff them self's off rocks. Some use current under there skirt to catch flow to gently land where they think might be a better location. If it's moving down don't pick it up and move it back it's trying to get away from flow or light, if you have acro's that means your between 300-700 par if they areally open and growing. So consider your mushroom might just be in the right spot to receive full par. Just something to think about.

I would love to be able to rent or buy a par meter some day. We have an AI prime hd. I just set up a sweet light schedule and everyone seems to love it. Algea growth seems to be slowing down. I absolutely love my mushrooms not sure what 2 of them are but they are beautiful creatures! We have a banana hammock acro that just seems to be growing by the day. It's amazing to watch. I could watch my tank for hours. But until a few weeks ago I didn't know there were more than one color of cyano bacteria. I'm to afraid to clean my sand and make my tank crash. We have too much money into coral to just watch it all burn

Hello! Just checking in, how did everything turn out. Mushroom survive the cyano onslaught?

Sorry I'm just getting back to you. We used cyano rx and worked wonders but now fighting diatoms but the mushroom is doing very well and still on the same rock
