Hello I am wondering if what I have in my tank is Cyano or just some Ditritus on the tank? I am running a 80 Gallon SR with 2 power heads perhaps I need to add two more wave makers. Closer towards the bottom but I am scared those may affect my corals? This is only on my Sand my rocks doesn't have this reddish/rust tinged coloration.

Detritus tends to settle evenly on the substrate and collects in low spots in the tank and the sump if you have one.

That is something else, living, maybe Cyanobacteria or?

Thank you

There are a couple places in my tank where definitely have more of this rust color stuff but I am not too sure what it is. Is there any way to ensure what it is so I know what I am dealing with?

Edit also here are my tank Params:

Salinity : 1.024
Nitrates: 0ppm (starting to dose Nitrates as of 2 days ago)
Phosphate: 0ppm (Dosing Phosphate as of 2 days ago)
Temperature: 80 Degrees F

I would guess that it is either Cyanobacteria or diatoms, either one is fairly common in new systems. The dosing of nutrients may help or it may increase the growth which you are looking at. The current level of growth is not a huge concern imo.
