I've been thinking it's dinos. hmm. any reason they would be so consistent? had them for a month or 2 now,

what type of sand are you using?
and did you start with Dry rock?
Newish tank?

Tank is about a year, sand is pool filter sand, rock was 80% dry, rest was lfs live rock.

hmmm. then maybe not. Dinos and Diatoms can have the same growth structures that I have observed. so unless you added some dry rock it may not have that much silca. a dino can be brought in on a frag or in a fish with no qt.
you'd really need a microscope to be totally sure of course.

From what I read, is there really any way to treat a frag for dinos? since there's really no dip for it. just a hope that you see it? I know fish you can freshwater dip but not corals.

you can freshwater dip corals, ph balancing is reccomended. theres a Advanced aquarist article on the efficiency of it(ARG I cant find it). Coral RX and revive should also be considered as well as iodine.

I am pretty sure these are not dinos. I had dinos in the past.
These look like the slime algae that comes in new tanks and when there is an imbalance caused by over feeding etc. I some times get them in year old tank too when I skip water changes and/or over feed.

It is cyanos maybe with some diatoms. I am quite sure that the spider web like structure is caused by cyanos. The brownish colour may be caused by diatoms but there are brownish cyanos too. I think it is most probably a thin film of carmine coloured Oscillatoria cyanos with Diatoms on it. With a microscope the diagnosis would be very easy.
