cyano or dinoflagellates

Hello I’m currently dealing with an cyano or dinoflagellates outbreak in my tank and I can’t properly identify which one it is, I’ve ordered Chemiclean and DINO X and would gladly appreciate if this could be correctly identified...

some spots are red slimy and other spots are green.

Looks to be Dino's. A quick check under a microscope will tell you for sure.

Its dino. Not out of control. remove by hand and lightly siphon area. Reduce whites to 10% for 4 days and see if remains controlled. If gone, resume lights. During day, add a little Liquid bacteria and do not feed corals for 5 days also.
If it returns, add 1ml of peroxide per 10 gallons at Night

Here is a test to rule in/out dinoflagellates without a microscope:

- put some tank water in a small jar or tupperware
- add some of the gunk you see from the tank
- shake vigorously for 30 seconds
- pour through a coffee filter into a glass; it should just look like hazy water
- place glass under a bright light source or sunlight for 1 hour
- after an hour, check the sample.
Did the gunk coagulate or clump back together?
Yes - dinos
No - not dinos

IMO, every system has SOME dinos. Most of the time they are outcompeted by slime algae, bacterial slime, diatoms and a thousand other tiny organisms that are able to hold their ground. Until we mess with the biome enough to throw things out of balance.

Another opinion: no Chemiclean, no dino-x, no erythromycin. It messes with the biome.
