I just went through a minor dino battle and now I have this. I was also battling 0 nitrate/0 phosphate so I started feeding more and then resorted to dosing Nitrate/phos. This algae in the pic started before I started dosing but it seems to have worsened. It may be on the rocks, but if it is, it is not very much. Mostly on the sand. On some spots, it is about 1/2 inch long and stringy; grows in patches. The glass appears to have dinos still on it and that is what is confusing me. Can cyano or red algae coexist with dinos?

Is this cyano, red algae or something else? Finally, any good cyano or red algae microscope pics somebody can point me to?

Thanks,
Steve

Your pic looks like cyano to me. Found this pic on Google Images from Pinterest - I'd feel better if it were red coloration. I'm also trying to raise nitrate/phosphate; what are you using?
