Hey guys - need some expert advice. Can't really tell what this is but I think it's cyano...

It's a layer of it that doesn't blow away when I use my baster on it. One of the pictures you can see two holes in the sand that I poked in but it's this brown aaaaalmost red ish algae on my sand only and can't figure out what it is.

I was having some hair algae growing so I cut back on feeding and nutrients and it is going away. My sand on the other hand, it's always been like this.

Any thoughts?

Diatoms,,normal tank cycling,,they are consuming the silicates in the sand,,let them run their course ,,once the silicates are consumed they will disappear..atleast that is what it looks like from the pictures,,sand/tank new or less than 6 monthes old ?

Less than 6 months yes - I think I'm at the 4 month mark now

I'm seeing some corraline growing on my power heads, filter, and back wall tho so I'm happy about that lol

Thanks for the input. I thought it was diatoms but wasn't sure - I had something reddish dark pink on my rocks a month back I thought it might've spread.
