So I have had cyano a few times before, I'm familiar with it. But this one is different than any I have experienced before.

- it's stubborn, it's difficult to remove previous was super easy to turkey Baster off
- there's no oxygen bubbles that I've experienced before
-slightly more matt color than the bright red I've had before
- it isn't really flowing in parts that I've experienced before but very dense and just on the rock. Hard to explain but previously when having cyano it wasn't as dense as this was

Tank stuff I experienced an alk drop a month or so ago due to doser malfunction, lost one Acro and caused a couple others to loose some tissue.

Nutrients are always low, I do feed and dose reasonably heavy but have good export and carbon dose (have been carbon dosing for 6 months so shouldn't be attributed to this). Nitrates stable between .75-1 phosphate never budges off 0.03. Calcium stable at 420 alk back to stable at 7.7

Tank had cyano around 7 months ago was dealt with and hasn't been back for around 5-6 months.

Recently my uv bulb went, so tank that is used to uv running 24/7 hasn't been running for the past 2 weeks while I wait for replacement bulb.

So my question is do you think it's just a slightly different cyano than I'm used to, or something else?

Definitley not coralline, It's definitely an algae. But it's just very dense and every time I've experienced cyano before is was never this dense and stubbornly attached. Like when I blow t with a turkey baster previously could remove nearly all cyano. This stuff can't even make it budge in the slightest

That photo was under mostly white, can take a photo under full white when back if helps

Can you brush it off with a toothbrush?

I reckon it would definitely come off with a toothbrush, or a scrub. Just different than I've experienced with cyano before. The more I stand here staring at it I reckon it is just cyano
