Back in the day about 10 years ago when you could get quality live rock, I never had an issue for cyano. Now the past two tanks I’ve set up have had crazy issues with cyano. The tank I just setup had been cycled and no lights on for about 2 and half months. Now the other day I turn them on and boom cyano just in one day. It was crazy. Anyone have any advice. I know of treatmeanrs but maybe I should just dim my light schedule down or what? Also in the past with either chemiclean or blackout method has not helped me.

its a bit hard to see the cyano with the blue lights. I am also not sure if it is cyano if its only been set up for two days. Most likely diatoms which are part of any new tank...

check out reef dude, he has a solution that is suppose to work. Its just simply dosing hydrogen peroxide. but I have not done my research on it yet, its suppose to work really well as another reefer who recommended it to me has used it with great success. BRS sells it, and so does costco, cvs, walmart, just about any drug store or pharmacy... always see what the strength is before using it.
