Wondering if this is typical yet for a 9mo tank.

  • Had cyano in the first few months, disappeared.
  • Tank has had elevated NO3 to 12-25 and previously maybe even higher. I started to skim wetter and added miracle mud from Hawaii with nitrosomas bacteria and my NO3 is now 5-12 per NYOS.
  • Phoshate is 0.05-0.08 per Hanna ULR.
  • I dose 3mL of nopox (way underdosed per bottle) daily as maintenance
  • Every 15 days add 1 vial biodigest and bioptim from prodibio

All the threads I'm finding mainly recommend to avoid bottoming out nutrients to correct cyano. Mine seems to be recurring in a few spots many months later now despite nutrients not at 0. Is this a usual trend in newer tanks like this? 9 mo I'm guessing isn't considered mature yet, especially as a dry start-up. The tank has had GHA problem for more than half of its life. Can't get that to disappear. Anything else to go on if the lack of nutrients aren't the root of it?

FWIW....My 5yr old tank really didn't start to balance out until I discovered the beauty of brewing my own tetraselmis phytoplankton and dosing it until my water turned a very faint green if put in a white bucket.

I was in the constant battle of dosing vodka and Dr tims waste away. If i missed 3 days....BAM! The GHA monster would start making early warning signs.

I Threw all that CRAP away and brewed my own phyto and haven't looked back...

No nuisance algae and corals are rocking it
