Good evening!
I noticed some reddish spots on some of my rock the other day. I don't see it anywhere else. I also haven't paid much attention to it so I don't know how much it's spread and at what rate. I took a skewer I use to stir up my sand and scratched at it but nothing came off that I could see. Do you think spots in the pic below is cyano or coraline? Nitrates are at 15 atm and everything seems happy.

red slime will blow off pretty easily. could be coralline.

Thanks. The skewer is metal and I scratched at it pretty good with nothing noticeable coming off. I also only see it on my rock and no where on glass, sand etc. Could it be anything else?

Dead center I see a faint purple spot that looks like coraline, but the brighter red look like cyano color to me, but as mentioned it's usually easy to tell, cyano will blow off, turkey baster or a PH pointed at it should blow right off, coraline must be scraped.
There is red coraline, as well as other colors

Thanks. I've also tried to blow it off with the baster and no go. There is a good amount of flow there as well. Appreciate it guys!

That looks like coralline (especially if not blowing off in a sheet).
It can be pink, red, purple, green. One color will usually take over the system.

Cyano. Best way to determine is with a turkey baster. Red slime/cyano will blow away with a turkey baster whereas the coralline will hold in lace.

Yea vetteguy. Doesn't blow or scrape off. Thanks!

I have small spots of purple coralline all over, but recently i suddenly noticed two larger splotches of pinkish red coloration. I also wondered if it was cyano but it won't blow off and isn't spreading like crazy so I figure it's just some pink coralline that's taking off.
