My system is a 300 gallon. Magus Curve 9 skimmer. BR1000SS Bio Pellet reactor. Chaeto in the fuge

Lighting is 2 Current LED strips (fish only now and I plan on adding T5s soon to start coral)

Roughly 300 lbs of live rock. 2 MP40s.
System was bought used. Cyano was prevalent when it was setup with last owner. Much more than what it is now.

Cyano was spreading as a dark red over rocks but I had been doing 100 gallon water changes and blowing rocks off and vacuuming the sand bed. I also changed the light schedule and intensity

The lighting schedule had been
Blues 8 am - 10 pm
Whites 9 am - 9 pm
Both at full intensity

I changed it to
Blues 12 pm - 10 pm
Whites 5 pm - 9 pm
With blues at 100%
Whites at 30%

Cyano hadnt come back sinc vacuuming it out a couple months ago

I recently moved lighting schedule to longer white period at about 50%

Cyano is starting to appear again in these spots where it grew a lot last time.

Any ideas on how to beat it and keep it away?!!!!!

Thank yall!

I’d say do what you are doing. It’s slow but the the cyano will burn itself out of the system if you keep it up.

A Refugium can help. So can an eye on your ph. (Kalkwasser in the ato).

That picture actually looks great compared to the mess I got handed in my 30gal.
