Hi Guys,

Please help me to confirm if its cyano or not.

It seem to reduce during night and grow when the light is on.

I have nuvo 25 lagoon and using hydra 52hd. The white light max out at 15% on a 8 hour schedule.

Thanks!

It looks like cyano bacteria. You can try something called chemiclean. I’ve never used it but some friends of mine said it took care of their breakouts. Good luck.

Also, if you’re tank is somewhat new, it’s kind of normal to see this or a diatom outbreak. If your tank is well-established, you need to prevent future outbreaks. Using RODI, feed less, keep parameters in check, etc.

Yah my tank is only 4 month new =).

Its just annoy to see it getting on corals.. lol

I try to stay away from chemicals. So I will just wait it out I guess.

I do however have UV sterilizer, think it will help?

I hear ya on the chemical thing. I don’t even use chemicals to control things like phosphates and nitrates. UV, from what I’ve heard, just doesn’t work. You might end up killing the good bacteria suspended in the water and the good algae on your rocks. Also, the bacteria most likely is hiding in nook and crannies and won’t simply go away. You can try to scrub it (not easy) and I would do frequent water changes (a must). Don’t over feed your tank. Usually things like these go away on their own.
