Kind of curious how to tell the difference if it's the start of cyanobacteria or coralline algae? Reef is almost 3 months old, started from dry rock and initial diatom bloom has happened and nearing the end of its course. I'm seeing the spots of color pop up where the diatoms are disappearing. No coralline additives have been introduced other than a couple turbo snails that had it on their shells.

It looks more like Diatoms to me. This is actually quite normal for a young tank. As time goes by though Coralline algae should take it's place, assuming your parameters are within reason. GL.
