Own can I get rid of cyano. I know it's not a flow problem because it's even in high flow areas

Err...BRS used to have a product review video that seemed to be very effective removing them, I tried looking for it but for some reason they took that video down.

It hasn't been there with the same flow for 9 months
I've got the same problem too. This stuff just started growing and I don't know how to get rid of it. I have two power heads in my 29g tank so there is plenty of flow.

reduce feedings, increase water changes and manual remove. It will eventually go away. Depending on what type of lights you're running the bulbs may be old and need replacing. I have struggled with it in every tank I have started. Usually shows up around the 3-4month mark and then gone around the 9month mark.

I'd say high phosphates. I has having the same problem. I was told gfo would help. I used phosguard. It deff help. I had the red stuff all over my rocks and and glass.

My phosphate readings are low but they could be screened by the cyano

cyano... I really really hate this stuff. I know its vital to the health and happiness of the oceans, but it has no business being in our reef tanks! I've been in an extended war with the stuff for about a year. Flow isn't the issue, lights, feedings, nutrient export, all are good. I'm starting to feel as if this stuff will drive me to drink.

Totally agreed. I have used microbacter with good results, also little bit of vinegar works great. Don't use both at the same time.

Chemiclean does well, if you use it with a bacterial additive its even better. Are you sure that it is in fact cyano? I ask because some people confuse dinoflaggelates with cyanobacteria and flow will not help with the dinos.

Positive it's red slime

I don't mean to high jack but I'm struggling to and being a newbie certainly doesn't help. I believed I had dionos on and off over the past year. My tank is about 13 months, this time the brown sand has been turning bright green around the edges. I think I have plenty of flow in a 65gal with an MP40 and MP10 ... My phosphates and nitrates are 0 and always has been since after the initial cycle.

. Here's a picture. Are we fighting the same thing?

15 nitrate po4 non detectable
I kno its annoying , theres some people that have the luxury that never experience cyano, ive gotten it so many times nd for me it usually starts when p04 is higher then my nitrate , your nitrates had to of ben sky high if its only at 15 now cyano can suck your tank dry of nitrate in a week , give it some time just feed less, beefup the flow a little, and be a little religious with your routine waterchanges and itll go away, just make sure it doesnt grow on ur corals

I don't see any Dinos in that tank. Just a bit of algae on the sand bed. How high do you have your MP10s? How long ago did you switch lighting to LEDs?

My MP40 maxes at 80% on Reefcrest throughout day and the MP10 runs anti-sync.
I've always had a Radion Pro since day one, max at 50%.
