I have been receiving a lot of different advice, I have bought a 75 gal tank and have it up and running for a week now, I added half base and half live rock and also have a fair amount of live rock to add from my 29 gal biocube. Am I doing the good live rock from my cube a bad thing by adding them to a new tank and two will I recieve a cycle when I added already live rock to the tank and a little bit of live sand from the old tank as well.... I have tested all Par and everything comes back normal. Thanks for the help. Wife wont get off me when we can add fish...

There will be a cycle because you have more of a bio load. More waste = more bacteria needed to get rid of it.

Hello and welcome to r2r :welcome: As said by others I would say that you will see some type of cycle, the length of it will depend on how much nitrifying bacteria has been introduced to the system from the live rock both new and from your existing system and the sand from your existing system that you added compared to the amount of die off that may be on the new live rock along with any dead organics that may be on the dry rock. I would keep an eye on your levels of ammonia and nitrites along with nitrates over at least the next couple of weeks. If any ammonia or nitrites show up you will want to wait until those go away. Also once you start to be able to add fish and corals you will want to make sure to go slowly so that you don't overload the system ;)

A good way to tell if the tank is ready for inhabitants is to ghost feed the tank a small amount of food (equivalent to the amount the fish you are going to add would eat) for a few days. Check the parameters particularly the ammonia and see if it spikes. If after a week of ghost feeding and there is no spike, it is safe to add the first additions. I have used this method and it hasn't failed me.
