Hello,

My tank is now down to 0 ammonia, nitrite is at about 1ppm and nitrate at 40. I read that saltwater fish are safe in low nitrite. Is this correct and am I safe to add 2 clowns and add my biological filter media after a water change? Thanks.

Can I ask what biological media are you adding ? And why would you NOT already have your media in during cycling. I would not add livestock until Nitrite zero, also remember niTRATE test kits read false until niTRITE is truly zero. So most likely you do not have 40 ppm nitrate.
