Ok guys, my biocube will be here tomoro. Im gonna go and pick the live rock up tomoro night and sand and what not. So I was gonna fill it up with live rock to help the cycle and was wondering if I could dump some water change water from my other tank into this one. Will this help. It sounds logical in my head but maybe im wrong. Thanks guys

Definitely that water has all ready cycled and so that is what you want. Use as much of it as you can and maybe even add a damsel to help cycle.

Thanks for the reply man. Ill just add live rock and water change water. I dont wanna subject the damsel to that though, even though they can take it, I imagine it probably sucks for the damsel lol.

Water is not much use for cycling a new tank. The beneficial bacteria is in the sand and LR. Water has very little bacteria.

Agree with Salty.....water is not going to do much.....little bacteria in the water. You'd be better off putting a rock or some sand for your existing tank into the new tank to get it going.

If the rock is really live and you have enough of it, you shouldn't have a cycle at all.

I swear the cycling with damsels needs to be banned. Why would you ever put a fish in your tank that 99% of the time you don't want, is aggressive esp in small tanks, is a pain in to catch, and why subject a life to conditions not suitable for a fish.

I can easily compare this to humans and everyone gets all defensive.

Let's say you simply lifted the rock out of the lfs vat and set it in a bucket of sw and brought it home submerged...no recycle

I would link a cool thread for examples but apparently imageshack has blocked all my links now the thread has no pics which stinks
