Cycle Question

So am I starting my cycle with dry sand and dry rock. I am using seachems stability and raw shrimp. The question I have is the raw shrimp has this weird hazy film on it. Does this mean that the shrimp is starting to process down. My ammonia is going up very slowly I am on day 4 of my cycle. I still have 0 nitrates and 0 nitrites. When can I expect to start getting readings on them?

The film is bacteria starting to break down the shrimp. It will take a week or 2 before you have nitrite. Until your nitrite is close to 0 your nitrate reading will not be correct so no need to measure it

Give it time the film is eating the proteins and dissolving them to ammonia.
