I’m getting closer to put my order in for Waterbox Peninsula 20. (Delivery of 2-4 weeks?)
Could I start my cycle in a basic 10 gallon tank with dry rock/live sand to get rock started ?
Use basic sponge filter, light, water from established 55 reef .
Or would I start with all equipment I will use in Waterbox? Mainly the A-1 light, power head and filtration which I don’t know what to use? Not sure what protein skimmer will work, or if I need one?

to cycle sand/rock use water, heater(if needed, it is summer after all), some form of agitation( power head, hob, air stone), the rock, live sand(bacteria source), and food for the bacteria. no light, filtration, or skimmer needed, imo. like curing live rock. you are not growing algae or providing light to coral. bacteria are non photosynthetic.
