cycle with purigen mess up?

i started up a new 30L about 10 days ago with dr tims one and only and dr tims ammonia. first few days were predictable with ammonia spiking and then dropping to zero, but nitrites are stuck at >5ppm, ive seen nitrates around 10-20ppm. i did a small water change and things remained the same. ammonia is processing but nitrites stay above 5. i have purigen in one of my media baskets added around day 4 and wondering if i messed up with that. should i pull it out at this point? readd dr tims?

I would not have added the purigen but I see no reason to remove it now, it will become seeded as with all filter media. I see no harm in adding Dr.Tims.
