So my ammonia lvls are about 1.0-2.0
Nitrite the same(color is hard to tell)
Nitrate is about 160 ppm

I set up the tank which is a 200 gallon but have been turning on and off due to sump issues. All decor was washed off with hose water unfortunately and the tank has about 20-30 percent of old water. Is this average for a new tank to be cycling? How is the nitrate lvls so high? I took the water to petco about three to four days ago and they said the water was perfect? Is my saltwater master kit lying or is the tank now cycling? Thanks.

I’ll be getting the test strips tomorrow to ensure the accuracy somewhat also there is a few pounds of live rock with a temporary cracked acrylic sump sealed with silicone until weld 16 is delivered on Monday.

All these questions a predicated on how long have you been cycling so far. So, how long has the tank been cycling? PetCo, "perfect" for what? What have you done to seed a bacterial population? What are your methods for feeding the bacteria? What manufacturer test kits are you using? What do you plan on keeping in the tank? What filtration methods are you utilizing? How much and what kind of rock do you have? Did you use live sand or dry sand? That looks like gravel in there. Are you using RO/DI water for your make-up water and evaporation top-off now? If you can answer each question this would help.

Running for about a week and a half, probably only 15 pounds of live rock, using tap water mixed with salt/dechlorinator. Gravel as bedding, with two sumps. First is a wet/dry trickle(but only trickles about an inch, (29 ish gallons, then connects to a 20 tall with tiny Refugium in the middle. The only thing in it is Microalgae about a cup. Fish are in temporary tank due to being bought from a previous owner and includes 2 sailfin tangs, 1 Naso tang, coral beauty, 2 clown fish, one damsel, and one snowflake eel
