Yes, I had an ammonia and nitrite spike and ammonia went down to zero, nitrite almost at zero. Nitrate at about 40-60. It’s a 90 Gal, and I’m wondering if I should just wait a couple more days to see if nitrite will go down. If it doesn’t, then should I add the pellets/ krill?Add a couple of pellets or piece of krill and allow levels to rise and see how soon they come down and at what level
A reef tank is cycled once both Ammonia and Nitrites have spiked and dropped to 0ppm (ppm = Parts Per Million) and Nitrates have slowly risen and are sitting at less than <30ppm. This cycle can take anywhere from 2 – 8 weeks depending on the size of the tank.

Sweet!!!! Thank you so much.Your cycle is done, nitrites do not factor in reefing any longer, and you have met the wait time listed on all bottle bac brands.
only ammonia control matters and meeting the time on the bottle bac, you are done, begin reefing
having nitrite positive is the same effect as having nitrite negative, in saltwater, it doesn’t matter any more than your helium gas count in the water-it’s neutral. Best not to own the kit. there is no aspect in display tank reefing where nitrite matters. Testing for nitrite causes reefers to buy offsets for a condition that doesn’t exist in reefing.
we specifically don’t have to wait one month after buying ten day bac. My offers would seem off base were it not for the label on the bottle I’m merely relaying they’re reliable.
Sweet. Thank you very much!!![]()
How to unstick any seemingly stuck cycle
Updated Cycling Science in Action This is a testless reef tank cycling thread, the only one from any board. If you ever had trouble with reef tank cycling in the past, you won't any longer after working some jobs with us. chances are you are using/about to use a method of reef tank cycling...www.reef2reef.com
new readers: when you reach the date on your bottle bac, change your water and begin reefing it’s what you paid for.
if you are determined to wait months after starting, don’t buy the five day bac just wait months for the start. Do not own a nitrite test kit, for reasons shown in the thread link above. It will cause you endless problems to own the test kit for nitrite.
Thank you!!!A couple more and one more test will confirm
