Cycling a new tank

Ok guys and gals
I'm in the process of cycling my tank. I started on 4-24 and started adding ammonia 5-4 and today I was doing my test and noticed some brown spots on the rock and the sand. Is this normal or do I need to do something else? And should I do water changes during this process?

Perfectly normal it's part of your cycle. You're going to see lots of colors come and go in the coming months as your tank cycles and matures
