Cycling a new tank

Being a newbie, can I start to cycle without lighting, I still need to buy these and it’s not likely this will be until October.
 
Definitely, the sooner the better for bacteria to colonize the surfaces. You just won't be growing anything photosynthetic in there unless you have other lights hitting the tank. You can expect a bloom of algae when you get your tank lights set up though.
 
Agree with above. Lighting isn't needed for months
 
Sorry to add.. depends on your time schedule of adding life, you can cycle an aquarium without lights no problems/ recommended
Once lights are on you will have to battle the algae bloom.
In my opinion.. the sooner the lights the better, this way you can combat any algae problem earlier, without affecting any new life you add

Thanks Rick, your opinion makes sense, trouble is being an oap I am On a limited budget, the lights I am going for are the Red Sea reefer 90s.
