Cycling assistance

I have a new IM 30L and had a quick question. Should I be cycling with filter media? The tank came with some filter media and I kept it in there but Ammonia will not decrease.

The only media you should use while filtering is biomedia. The problem is that you dont want the new cultures to grow on media that you will replace.

Welcome to the REEF!! Do you have any Rock in the system or any biomedia at all? I would stop the filter media for now and maybe add a bacteria like Dr' Tim's or IO bio spira

I have live rock and sand in there now. I will remove everything else then and off to cycling I go. Thank you!!

Also if you havent already, go ahead and add a nitrifying bacterial additive
