Cycling before having all equipment?!?!

What are your thoughts on this?

So I am setting up a 40 gallon breeder for a reef tank. I will be using 2 Tidal 55s but only have one as of right now and don't have a wavemaker yes. I have been buying everything piece by piece.
Do you think it is okay to go ahea and fill the tank to start cycling? Or should I just wait until I have all of the equipment?

Absolutely! No need to wait for everything.
Get your substrate cooking….

Saltwater, bacteria bottle, rock, sand and flow.
No light right now.

I would. I did the same for my 40b because I knew that the water would be really cloudy from my sand anyways and it would help clear it up sooner.

As long as you got surface area for bacteria, circulation and warm salty water you'll be good to start.

I just got the rock today and will be building a scape next week. After that just gotta get sand and water.

I plan on letting mine cycle for 2 or 3 months anyway so I get get the exact equipment I want. The price of everything has slowed me down.

Light and skimmer are not needed at this time. .

I’d fill with water , add your sand and rocks . And let filtration run .
Add your bacteria and get the party started

Wait. Don't get it wet until you have what you need to start.

Mine cycled in 9 days.
