My 75 Gal tank is on its 4th week of cycling. I just tested the water and have the following results. Salinity 1.025, ammonia 0, PH 8.1, Nitrite 0, and Nitrate 30ppm. This tank down the road a few months will become a reef tank. is it safe to add a clean up crew yet? Thanks

As long as you had an ammonia source from the beginning, seen a ammonia spike then a nitrite spike. You can add livestock to your tank under those conditions.

there isnt any type of algae or anything that I should be looking for in order to feed the clean up crew also. I see that Nitrate levels should be less than the one I listed above, will that lower on its own before I put coral in down the road?

If the tank has went through the ammonia and nitrite phase you can do a water change to lower nitrates. You probably will get a diatom bloom soon, brown stuff covering rocks and sand. Doesnt last long though.

Just make sure you add livestock slowly and QT if at all possible. Your bacteria population needs to increase with each addition to the tank to much to fast can lead to a mini-cycle. Good luck and enjoy your new tank. Also feel free to share some photos.

I was planning on adding 1 peppermint shrimp, 2 dozen turbo snails, and 1 dozen red tip hermits. if that is enough for now then I will see how they weather then perhaps in a week from when I add them start adding some fish starting with 2 clowns.
