Cycling dry rock with live rock

Hi,
I have a piece of previously live rock that was left outside for about a year that I want to add to my new 40b set up. I have some live rock presently in a tank that has been running for a few years with my old clean up crew. Should I add it to the bin that I’m using to cycle the dry rock? Will there be any benefit?

There probably be won't be any benefit other than some more rock.

If its been out and dry for any period of time likely no benefit other then more rock work.

Old live rock is better than solid dead.
I would rinse it in di then soak it overnight in fresh salt water.
Shake it to remove debris and add.
I do this in my 40 breeder sump on my frag system when I find a nice piece of old live rock.
After a few weeks I will put it in the frag system and it will get covered with coralline and look like its old self.
It will also contain a considerable amount of bacteria as its not a solid piece.

No the rock will be repopulated with bacteria from the system its in. Same way you would do it with manmade rock only the live rock can hold more bacteria because live is not solid.
If you cut a true live rock in half it will be criss crossed with different sized holes from boring organisims.
