Cycling in brute tub question

Ok so i have had my rock in a Brute tub for almost 2 months. It is completely cycled. i can dose 2ppm of pure ammonia and in under 24 hours ammonia and nitrite levels are 0.

So because i can't put the rock in my tank for 2 more months how do i go about keeping the beneficial bacteria fed? do i continue dosing pure ammonia? And if so how much? And how often?

any suggestions?

Hi fernalfer , You can continue the ammonia which is feeding the bacterial or ghost feed with some thing natural like a good pich of frozen, flake or pellets. these work also. Not too much though .
On a side, have You tested this water for nutrients like Nitrates & phosphates . That rock has been soaking for a while now. "i" would do a 100% water change & keep feeding.
When do You think the rock will go into the tank?

so i'm in the process of bringing phosphates to 0 with Lanthanum Chloride. It was .25 on Hanna checker and have got it down to 0.06. i have not checked nitrates because once phosphates are down to 0 i will do a 100% water change. Tank will be ready for the rock in about a month.

Water is all it needs, because water and open air vectors in all the feed it needs.


Cycles can never undo after setting in without meds


Reefers can’t starve them back to sterile. No threads exist for the mechanism, cycles don’t retroscale by withholding feed. They still get it

Most still feed anyway, it’s not harmful if you want to

It needs nothing but water. We have a three year fallow rock test and a two year one to source in the cycling thread.
