Cycling my first tank

I just started cycling my tank a week ago and put ammonia in the other day and tested it 20 minutes later and showed 1.5 I then tested today to see where I was and it is at .5 now. I am not sure why the drop so fast so I checked my nitrite and that is showing 0. Any ideas or suggestions for next steps?

Did you use wet rock/ live or was it dry rock and bottle bac

Unlikely that it is cycled. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it will be 18 days before you see nitrites, 22 or so before nitrates.

I started with dry rock and used dr tims one and only.
