hey everybody! I just have a few quick questions regarding socks sumps and skimmers!
So I'm a week and a half into the cycle of my 220, ammonia spiked to about .3ppm and nitrites are starting to climb, my question is with the skimmer, its barely producing any foam, like at all, I know there is no bio load (unless you count 2 rotting shrimp as an anmonia source) but i assumed it would still produce a little bit of foam just no skimmate, could it be that my water level isn't quite right? Its sitting at 8 inches deep right now in the sump and outs a Regal 250-Int.
My second question is with how many bubbles its spitting back out, its a ton! Is this just part of the break in period of the skimmer? Its only got a couple combined days of running, ive had it off for most of the first part of the cycle because of the additives and rock putty I've used.
ALSO how often should I be cleaning my socks during the cycle? I've already done it once because of all the silt but the tank is still cloudy (not sure why to be honest kinda just hope that one fixes itself eventually)
Thanks in advance!!
