hello
Ive started cycling a 65 gallon red reef tank with live rock, live sand . I added some water from my current tank. I also added the #9.
I'm starting to get red rust algae blooms and I was wondering if there's anything that I can put in the tank. I can't find anyone in my area that carries Dr Tims so I ordered the one and only which arrives in 2 days.
Any tips or alternatives I can add until then? I have NOT added any livestock.

Turn the lights off. Also the water from your current tank does nothing for the cycle except add dirty water. The cycling bacteria lives on surfaces not the water column.

There are lots of bacteria brands out there with products for cycling (fritz, instant ocean, microbacter, seachem, api, fauna marin, etc. Nearly any of them with an ammonia source (I prefer ammonium chloride for fish tanks) will get the job done.

I used Seachem Stability from Petco to cycle my tank and small amounts of fish food every day. Worked like a charm.
