According to Dr. Tim, dosing ammonia when Nitrites are 5ppm or higher should be paused until the Nitrite levels drops to 2-3ppm. He further says that the bacteria WILL NOT starve if ammonia is not added until then.

My Nitrites are close to 4ppm, and Ammonia is 0 and Nitrates are at 30ppm. I have not dosed Ammonia in 3 days as I am waiting for the Nitrites to drop - wondering if I should stay the course and refrain from dosing Ammonia, or should I do a water change to bring down Nitrites, or let nature takes its course and let the bacteria bring down the Nitrites and dose Ammonia when the levels are less concentrated.

Thanks

Tank is cycled, stop adding ammonia, do a water change and look for your first fish

If your ammonia is zero and was higher you’re cycled do a large water change and you’re good to go.
As long as I get Nitrites down to zero, but then again, I don't know if the bacteria that converts Nitrites down to Nitrates is strong enough because if Nitrites aren't 0, I shouldn't be adding any livestock.
