Hi Adam.I would just add about 5 Damsels and feed them daily all they want.Check the ammonia in 2 to 4 days and it should start to show some ammonia levels.Fish have the nitrifying bacteria with them and it will be a natural process.Buying good cured live rock will help with the cycle not spiking.Smell the live rock before you purchase it.If it smells foul, leave it. Good luck,Richard

Don't do this.

it cruel and unnecessary to use fish to cycle a fish tank why would put fish into an environment with ammonia (which is bad for fish in case u didnt know) when you can simply add pure ammonia to cycle a fish tank. Furthermore no one wants damsels so it will also save you the trouble in trying to catch them and take them out IF the ammonia doesnt kill them.

Wasent going to my tank is not getting any fish until I know for sure it has been cycled !

Btw thanks for all the help deerhunter06 you have been lots of help in like all of my forums :)

Tested my tank tonight and ammonia is still at 0.1 nitrites 1-2ppm nitrates 2.5ppm

Only thing that changed is nitrites went from. Nothing to 1-2
