I have a question about tank cycling. I've had my tank up and running for about a month now. Levels are testing ok and I have brown diatom and lots of red hair algae growing. My question is, does the brown diatom algae or red hair algae "disappear" on its own or will my clean up crew take care of it? If my ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels are good, am I ok to at least add a cleaning crew? Thanks everyone for your input.

If you've seen ammonia and nitrite spike then go back down then you're cycled. Cleanup crew would be fine and help with the new stuff growing. How did you cycle? Are you going to quarantine?

Yes I used RO/DI water. I used the shrimp method to spike my ammonia. I've already seen them come back down. I'm thinking about adding the cleanup crew this weekend to get things going. I'm not going to quarantine animals, just use the drip method to introduce them to the tank.
