I recently upgraded from a 16 to a 65. I used all new water and added about 20 lbs of new dry rock. From the 16, I took about 10 lbs of LR and some seachem matrix in a bag. I added fish right away in the hope that there won't be a cycle. The question is, how long would it take for ammonia to show up if it will cycle? I've had it running since Thursday and so far no ammonia or nitrites.

Ive set up many tanks but I mever cycled one as I've always used LR. Here I'm a bit more concerned because of the small amount of stuff i brought over from the old tank.

If you seeded the new aquarium with cycled LR you are probably ok. I would just keep testing and if no ammonia shows up ever you should be good. Its possible you might have a mini cycle or already had it.

Do you know how long it normally tales for ammonia to ahow up?

If you have been feeding your fish in there since Thursday you should see ammonia already from food waste/fish poop. If its reading 0 then its getting processed.
