So I just started my cycle for my new tank with Fritz turbo start and using Dr. Tims for ammonia. On the instruction for Dr. Tims ammonia it called for 4 drops per gallon but that gave me way to much ammonia( over 2.0) when I tested with my red sea test kit. I tested again 24 hour later and ammonia dropped to 0.2 and nitrite spike over 1 and nitrate to 50. Im not sure if I should just keep waiting for nitrite to drop, or should I keep adding ammonia so the bacteria doesn't starve.

The bacteria can go a week without ammonia. Wait till you have no nitrite. Also if you counted you total water volume as the tanks water volume then you could have put a little too much from not factoring in the rocks and sand displacing water.

Keep in mind though that nitrite is not nearly as harmful as ammonia, so if you have your first fish and detect nitrite don't worry unless its sky high which I am not sure how that would happen.
