Hi, I'm setting up a new 16x16x16inch tank soon. This is my second tank.
I've few questions in regards to cycling since its been a year or more that I did my last cycle and I just wanted to be sure I still remember how to do it properly.
Last time I have Microbacter7 to dose with some ghost feeding.
Right now my Microbacter7 has expired last month, and I guess I couldn't use it.
How would I do it properly this time, in the most basic way?
Do I just ghost feed and wait til the ammonia spike and drop, followed with a spike in nitrate? Or do I need/can dose my expired/new Microbacter7?
How long does it usually take?
Thank you in advance

Ghost feed until zero.
I would use mb7 anyway. Just because it says expired doesn't mean it actually is.

if its possible, take a rock out of your existing tank to seed the new tank, it will be much more beneficial than bottled stuff

I thought about it. But I just figured that if I take a rock from my tank I would take the pests (algae etc) with it. I’ve watched BRS’s biome video where they state that getting a rock from an established tank might be a bad idea

This is true.
But keep in mind, 2 tanks, two of everything. Like nets for catching fish, some you don't cross-contaminate the tanks.
Ghost feed until zero.

alright, do I feed daily or is there a recommended schedule?
I wouldn't feed everyday. Just need a pinch every 3 days or so.

Right I'll keep it in mind. Just treat the new tank as the only tank - everything new so I dont cross contaminate
