For 10 days I was well over 2.0ppm for nitrite, and ammonia dropping from 2.5ppm. After ten days my nitrite dropped to 0.007ppm and ammonia is 0.05pmm. Today my nitrite went back up to 0.078ppm and ammonia dropped to 0.04ppm. This has been cycling for 25 days with only one 30% water change 2 weeks ago. What should I do to get nitrite and ammonia down to zero?

I do not own a nitrite or ammonia test kit. I ignore nitrite and just watch for nitrate. Once I see nitrate I slowly move forward. Been working for years doing it that way.
This has been my nitrate movement. You think I should do a water change at 50% ?
what did you use to cycle? are you using dry rock? live rock?
I used Dr Tim's Ammonia and One and Only nitrifying bacteria. I didn't know of another way to do it fishless.

the way you went is completely fine! There are other ways to do it fishless as well, live rock is the fastest way as you essentially skip the whole cycle but there can be a risk of unwanted hitchhikers, never been an issue for me but it’s possible. Pros and Cons to all methods i believe. I would just wait for some nitrates to show up as well, you should be good.
