Hello all, I'm new to here but used to be a saltwater owner for years until I took along break.

I recently put in the fritz turbo 900 and the ammonia from dr Tim's on thursday June 6th.

I started cataloging my water testing daily since 6-7.

My readings have been -

6-7
4 ppm ammonia, 8 ph, 2-5 ppm nitrite, 40ppm nitrate.

6-8
.50 ammonia, 8 ph, 2-5ppm nitrite, 40ppm nitrate.

6-9
.50 ammonia, 8 ph, 2-5ppm nitrite, 40ppm nitrate.

6-10
.50 ammonia, 8.2 ph, 2ppm nitrite, 40ppm nitrate.

Amonia has been same for 3 straight days now, the ph went up on 4th day, nitrite is 2, but nitrate has been same entire time.

Is there something I can do? The diatoms started yesterday, do I water change? Add more ammonia?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Welcome to R2R!!!
It’s odd that after adding Fritz Turbo your getting these results. What was the date on the bottle and was it refrigerated?
I’ve only used it on one tank and had 0 on everything but nitrate in 3 days.

I don't remember the date on bottle, it came from algae barn.

It wasn't refrigerated, it was room temp.

That's the confusing part for me, no idea what I should do for it.

Yea it needs to be refrigerated at all times and has a short shelf life. Everywhere I’ve seen that stocks it has it in a refrigerator. Sounds like you got a bottle of nothing sadly.

I emailed algae barn about this as well and waiting for a response.

Should I add more ammonia? Or start water changing?

Personally I would add Brightwell Microbactor 7 and continue your cycle.

Like stated above. If you want to hurry the cycle, add more bacteria and some more ammonia ( just up to 1 or 2 ppm).
It takes longer for the (nitrite to nitrate) bacteria to grow.
I would not change out any water at this point. I am assuming you have some rock in the tank for the bacteria to grow on?

Correct Lapin, I have dry live rock and live sand.

Thank you both Hitman and lapin!

Algae barn emailed back and said the following
"This certainly isn't a sign of a bad bottle, your chemistry is going down and should stabilize shortly. I would suggest adding a small amount of your ammonia and seeing if the numbers drop back down quickly. if so, you are close to done with your cycle!"
