Hey guys,

I've been cycling my tank with dr tims one and only and amonion chloride. I bought some frags from a reefer thats quiting his tank and i read online that cycling for corals is not neccesary. How ever during cycling parameters drop so my alk is at 6 and at the moment nitrate is at 13. Would you suggest i dose alk, mag and calcium during cycling for the corals? I do have a running tank at the moment but it has verminited snails and i don't want to add the corals to that one since i don't want to bring pest over.

I do have a bio block i got from a establiched tank. Im just not sure if i should use it. It's still in a bucket with tank water but im afraid it might have some pest? His tank looked good and was running for a few years.

I would dose alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium to keep them at appropriate levels.

Thank you, will start doing that with the reefdose today. You suggest raising it slow over of a few days?

Dwest, i have another question. Do you recommend using a bio block from a established reef tank? My cycle is almost done but i tought it might add some extra bacterie. Only isseus is from BRS biodome video's using a bio block from exsisting reef gaf them allot of uglies during the uglies stage. I am running a refiugium, reefmat and skimmer.

Hopefully that ammonia drops pretty quickly if you dosed all the way to 2ppm ammonia...it's toxic to corals as well in high concentrations

Ammonia shows at around 0,5 now. I read that for corals it fine since it can be used as fertilizer?

Ok, if it's already fallen that low I wouldn't worry...if it was taking a while to drop from 2ppm I'd be more concerned
Thank you, im hooking up my reefdose today to pump the alk, mag and calcium. Would you recommend using a maxpecct bio block that comes from a few years old reef? I couldn't see any pest in his tank. No vermintied or aptasia. The Blockhas been sitting in tank water in a bucket for 2 days now.

It couldn't hurt so you might as well although it probably wont help a whole lot.

OP would a water change bring your levels back up to normal?

Thanks for your reply, so i did a 20 gallon water change yesterday before setting everything up. and adding the lights. I am using tropic marin pro reef salt. Wich has pretty low paramaters to start with. Alk is 7 and mag is 1350.
