Hi iam setting up a new reef tank but i really dont understand about sump setting and plumbing so i hired a guy to set up my sump but hes away to another country for i dont know how long

Iam in this hobby for 5 months i have 20 gallon tank without sump all with hob filter skimmer and reactor and done well but now i really want to do it the right way for my 60 gallon

The question is can i start to cycle my tank while waitting for him? Without the filtration system
Just water sand and live rock?

Do you know how he plans to set the sump up? If he’s going to drill your glass then you might want to wait. But other than that you definitely can start cycling! In fact if the water sand and rock is already in the tank than it probably already started cycling on its own!

Thank you so much, yes actually my tank is custom to have overflow on the back so theres no need to drilling the tank its really good to hear that i can cycle now thx
