They are but im not spending a lot of money for a cycle test kit. I have hanna checkers for everything elseNot necessarily - but those test kits are always hard to read.
Hello. What size tank are you cycling ? There is a recommended amount of drops of ammonia to use per gallon. Then it's just a waiting game to let the system do its thing. Nothing good happens fast in this hobby so be patient and let it complete the cycle. Have you tested for nitrates yet ? Your nitrites will start turning into nitrates and begin to come down.
Its 36 gallons with 18 gallon sump 54 gallons takes the water volume 44 gallonsHello. What size tank are you cycling ? There is a recommended amount of drops of ammonia to use per gallon. Nice , do you know how many drops of ammonia you have put in ? I would definitely just let the cycle run it's course. If you rush it you may cause more problems then just letting it do its thing. No 2 tanks are the same. Some may cycle in 2 days some may take a week or even longer. Its 36 gallons with 18 gallon sump 54 gallons takes the water volume 44 gallons
Looks like 1ppm ammonia and 2ppm nitrite .
Normally when doing a fishless cycle using ammonia, you dose the ammonia per gallon of water you are cycling and let it work its course.Looks like 1ppm ammonia and 2ppm nitrite .
nitrite is irrelevant in saltwater .
ive never cycled By dosing ammonia so joy sure how long you need to dose until you can let it ride and finish .
I haven’t cycled a tank in probably 10 years .Normally when doing a fishless cycle using ammonia, you dose the ammonia per gallon of water you are cycling and let it work its course.
I know that's right , when I cycled my 300g I did use the ammonia route and still added 1 large frozen shrimp to the tank as well. Lol Some are doing an immediate cycle which I think is amazing im just unsure how to do that. I'd rather let it run its course.I haven’t cycled a tank in probably 10 years .
ive transferred and upgraded a few times but not cycled .
The route I chose at the time was raw shrimp
Add it and let it decompose which provided the system with the ammonia source . When ammonia was zero and nitrates were excessively high it was finished and ready to add fish
Things have changed over the years .
